Formal Education
This programme aims at contributing towards improvement of educational standards in Tanzania in general. The Adolph Kolping English Medium Primary School (AKEMPS), which commenced business in March 2007, has pupils (boys and girls) up to Standard 7, with enrollment capacity of 1100 pupils. AKEMPS was followed by St. Joseph Kolping Secondary School (JOKOSES) in 2016. JOKOSES is a co-education boarding secondary school with enrollment capacity of 380 students. Another Kolping school is planned for Singida municipality in the near future.
AKEMPS and JOKOSES are Catholic Schools that are helping children, through formal education, to advance along the path of human maturity so that they internalize the sense of dignity, equality and true freedom of the human person and thus become good citizens of this country in future. Below is the vision, mission and objectives of the Kolping Schools:
Vision
To establish family-like schools in the spirit of Kolping where every pupil is loved and appreciated, guided and supported in the process towards attaining intellectual, cultural, spiritual, social, emotional and moral maturity.
Mission
Within the framework of the Gospel and the traditions of the Catholic Church, the KST seeks to provide Catholic education that inspires and prepares students to attain academic excellence, to work, to live fully, to serve God, and to serve one another, reinforcing the call and capacity of all to finding a higher fulfillment in promotion of the common good and contribute to the transformation of the world rooted in Christian values.
Main Objectives of the KST Schools are:
⦠To educate children in the teaching and sacramental life of the Church and to encourage them towards a life of faith.
⦠To share with parents in the spiritual, moral and intellectual development of their children in a Catholic community, which welcomes all faiths.
⦠To help pupils internalize spiritual values and grow up honorably, inspired by high ideals, so that they may serve others generously, and be strong in friendship and family.
⦠To develop the ability of pupils to think and reason logically, analytically and critically.
⦠To provide a first class education striving for excellence in all academic, cultural and sporting pursuits, giving every pupil the confidence to discover where their gifts lie and to enjoy their talents.
⦠To build the capacity of pupils in special talents by empowering them with knowledge and skills in the field of science and technology.
⦠To generate local funds to support the running of KST programs.
Accomplishments:
Between 2012 and 2022, 842 pupils graduated from AKEMPS; over 80% of them with excellence (Grade ‘A’). As a result, during the above period AKEMPS was generally among the best 100 performing schools academically annually out of more than 12,000 schools
nationally.
